Whether you have five minutes or an hour, there’s a role for everyone in this process. Stay informed by signing up for updates, and encourage your neighbors to get involved too. Together, we can ensure the master plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the entire Alpine community.

    As the Alpine Master Plan is being drafted by the project consultants, we have been hearing concerns from residents about the future use of the Town-owned land and density. We want everyone to know that we’ve listened to your concerns and have updated the draft to reflect them. Instead of a Riverwalk District, we are proposing The Confluence – a recreation hub. The Town would work with the Bureau of Reclamation and the Forest Service to create this a Riverwalk Trail along the waterfront, with historical markers highlighting the Town’s history, and opportunities to interact with the River and Reservoir. Ideas for the Town-owned land include the opportunity for a small-scale outdoor amphitheater for summer concerts and outdoor recreation equipment. We heard concerns about a hotel locating in this area, so that is no longer a part of the plan. We are also recommending that any potential improvements leave open corridors for wildlife.

    Some misinformation has been spread around that we’d like to clear up with some facts:

    • There is no rezoning being proposed – the Master Plan is a long-range plan that is not regulatory, but guidance for future regulatory changes. Any rezoning in the future has to go through the public process, with public hearings where residents have the opportunity to give input.
    • The recommendations outlined above are meant to provide options for potential use of Town-owned land, and the Town has no current plans to sell the land.

    We hope that this clears up some of your concerns, but if you have additional questions or feedback, please reach out to Gina Corson (planning@alpinewy.gov). Town staff and the consultant team are committed to continue listening and incorporating community input into the draft plan. A public draft plan will be available on the project website in May of 2026, when additional input will be solicited.
